NTT DoCoMo announced on Wednesday it will acquire a 2.6% stake in Fuji TV, as part of its preparations for a new digital broadcasting service to mobile phones in Japan. The service launch is scheduled for 1 April 2006. Meanwhile, at the end of November 2005, 3 Italy announced its acquisition of Canale 7, an Italian TV channel, which will enable it to deploy a DVB-H network for mobile broadcasting. The service launch is scheduled for H2 2006.
