China Mobile (Hong Kong), the world’s largest mobile phone service provider, added 42.36 million new subscribers last year, bringing its total to a whopping 246.7 million, the company reported Friday. The company also reported a record gain of 3.96 million users in December, its best single month since it began breaking out monthly subscriber numbers in September 2001. By comparison, the total number of mobile phone users in all of China reached 372.8 million at the end of August, according to China’s Ministry of Information Industry.
